John,
My current dermatologist .... is a great doctor but it seems as if I have been doing routine check-ups all the time with no new information. It just makes me seem as if there is no research being done since I am not getting any feedback. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot, Sarina, West Virginia

Thanks for your website.
Can you recommend reputable hair transplant surgeons in Orange County?"
Patty H, Orange, CA.

"Every doctor I have asked about the loss of my hair, they just say they don't know why my hair is coming out. So now I am asking you. My hair used to be long and think and now it is stringy and fine and falling out. I want my hair back! It (will) be fantastic to finally get some answers and hopefully some help with my hair loss problem....Thank you!"...

Women lose Hair Too!
It's believed there are approximately 30 million women in this country with hair loss problems. Some women experience pattern balding on the top of the head, some experience thin fine hair throughout the head, while others experience patchy loss that moves from location to location. I'm not a doctor but there are a few indicators that can be a factor in female hair loss The first step for most women with hair loss should be examination from an medical expert in hair loss problems for a proper diagnosis. At Hairconsultant.com, It will be our pleasure to recommend such and individual. You need only contact us at info@hairconsultant.com.

Miracle Cures
It seems like every few months there is some new 'wonder product' that has lots of claims and testimonials, but no clinical studies to back up their claims. Many products advertised as "FDA"- approved for hair loss simply contain some minoxidil and are often over-priced combinations of unproven ingredients such as herbs, etc. Many entice the buyer with 'money-back' offers. Our advice if you chose to buy some untested product: keep your receipt!.

Currently, the only FDA -approved product for stopping hair loss in women is minoxidil -- originally marketed as Rogaine, now available in a generic form at your local pharmacy very inexpensively. It has shown to be reasonably effective in a percentage of women. Doctors we trust recommend the 2% solution, as the stronger 5% version can, apparently, cause other male-oriented side effects. Propecia (made by Merck) is the only other FDA -approved drug for hair loss. It's providing excellent results for men but it is not prescribed for women. See your hair loss specialist doctor for more information about that. There are a number of excellent products available which are designed to encourage a healthy scalp, longer hair growth cycles and thicker hair. One favorite is Tricomin, available on the internet at ProCyte.com. It's a copper-peptide compound John Vincent uses on his own hair every day. If your hair loss turns out to be simply genetic (pattern hair loss passed down from part of you gene pool!), you may be a good candidate for hair transplants. In such case, we can recommend the excellent doctors who specialize in the practice and who have a real experience with female patients. We would be happy to direct you to a medical expert for which the initial consultation is free. Tell us where you're located.
